J CHEN PROJECT is a New York City based contemporary dance company. Artistic Director and founder, Jessica Chen aims to tell stories through dance and make a difference in the world through dance. It has been an incredible journey of J CHEN PROJECT thus far!
From September 2010 to February 2011, Jessica Chen created a production for the USA Pavilion at the SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO and completed a three month ARTIST IN RESIDENCY at Shanghai's premiere dance company, JAZZduFUNK.
Then in March, J CHEN PROJECT traveled to LOS ANGELES for a two week long company retreat. During this time we began to create our new evening length, "TO IDENTIFY"." The residency ended with a preview performance at the 10th ANNUAL SAN DIEGO WOMEN'S HALL OF FAME EVENT.
The most recently news is that Jessica Chen gave the KEYNOTE SPEECH at CORNELL UNIVERSITY for "Celebration of Asian American Women." For a weekend, we worked with brave and authentic women as they discovered the masks they wear in a very conscious way. This launched our official fundraiser SPONSOR A MASK.
